This latest leak is somewhat more legit than the previous ones, as it comes from a tipster account that has spilled convincing beans a few times before, including on the latest Mi prototype. According to the leakster on Weibo, the Mi5 will take benefit of a Snapdragon 810 processor while the Mi5 Plus will be fueled by a next-gen Snapdragon 820. Earlier we have heard that both models would be the recipients of a Snapdragon 820. Moving on, we are told that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be the receiver of a 5.2-inch LCD display with Gorilla Glass 2.5 and taking benefit of 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The device has a 16MP primary camera along with a very capable 13MP selfie shooter (at the level of the HTC Desire EYE). This could make the Mi 5 the best selfie phone around, though, as our tests with the Desire EYE concluded, a high-res front cam doesn’t necessarily translate into great selfies. The phone is said to be constant by a 3,000 mAh battery and will take advantage of quick charge support allowing users to juice up 30% of the battery in just 40 minutes. The whole thing will be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop, covered with the yet-unannounced MIUI 7 interface version. The price listed is 2399 yuan, or about $386, which is pretty good as well. What about the rumors of a Snapdragon 820-laden Mi 5? Well, it seems that this would indeed be called Mi 5 Plus, and features a larger, 5.7″ panel, again with Quad HD resolution. The Plus version, however, will not only upgrade on the chipset, but also in the camera department, as it is listed with a gigantic 23 MP shooter, as well as a 12 MP selfie cam. These are pretty weird numbers, so they could be rounded down instead of up, and we could be looking at a 24 MP shooter, like on the Elife E8, and a 13 MP one again, respectively. On the other hand, Xiaomi might be using some brand new sensors inside, and we can’t wait to see what the Mi 5 Plus will promise in the camera realm. The Mi5 Plus is showed as having a 3,500 mAh battery on the inside and a pretty chunky $600 / €547 price tag attached.
